FISYCO plugin for Figma
The plugin sends the local variables of a Figma file to FISYCO, which turns them into design tokens and delivers them to your repository as pull requests. Outside Figma Enterprise the plugin is the only way to read variables: the Figma REST API returns them on Enterprise plans only.
Install the plugin
The plugin is published in Figma Community. Open its page, click Open in Figma, and it appears under Plugins in any of your files.
You need a FISYCO account
The plugin works on behalf of a FISYCO account. Sign up with email or with Google, GitHub, GitLab or Bitbucket.
Connect and send variables
- Connect a repository to your project in FISYCO. Pull requests with the tokens go there; the library itself does not pick a repository.
- Start a token library in FISYCO: General (name and the link to your Figma file) → Sync method (variables come from the plugin) → Styles. At the Variables step FISYCO waits for this plugin.
- In Figma, open the same file, run Plugins → FISYCO and click Connect. A FISYCO page opens in your browser.
- Sign in if needed, type the code shown in the plugin and approve access. The plugin continues on its own.
- The plugin shows that FISYCO is waiting for variables — click Send variables. Back in the browser, pick the variable groups, set formats and structure in Generation, and click Create library.
- Next time, open the plugin in the file and click Send to your library. What changed appears in the library's history. Create the pull request with Create PR on the library page, or turn on automatic pull requests after each sync in the library's PR settings.
- After the first send, a Refresh tokens button appears in the file's properties panel — next time it takes one click.
What the plugin sends
- Local variables of the open file: names, values, modes and collections.
- The file name, so FISYCO can show which file the variables came from.
Nothing else leaves Figma: no layers, images, comments or styles. Styles are read by FISYCO through the Figma REST API, with the access you granted when connecting Figma.
Sign-in tokens are kept in Figma's plugin storage on your device. The library you pick for a file is saved in the file itself.
Disconnect or switch accounts
Click Disconnect at the bottom of the plugin window. The plugin forgets the sign-in, and next time you can connect with another account.
