A workspace is your team's account in FISYCO. It holds the people, the projects and the Figma and repository connections those projects use. This page covers creating a project, inviting people and deciding what each of them can do.
How workspaces and projects fit together
When you sign up, FISYCO creates a workspace for you and makes you its owner. The workspace starts without projects.
A project is the unit of work inside a workspace, usually one design system or one product. Its libraries, its design system in code and its Figma and repository connections all live in the project.
What a person can do comes from two roles: their role in the workspace and their role in a project. The workspace role is the stronger one and applies to every project.
Create a project
- On the workspace page, click Create project.
- In the Figma step, choose the Figma account the project reads, or click Connect Figma. A project can't be created without a Figma account.
- Enter the Project name.
- Click Create project. To link a repository first, click Connect repository instead. That step is optional, and Skip and create project finishes without one.
A new project goes into a workspace its creator owns, so create projects from the owner's account. The connections themselves are covered in Connect Figma and Connect a repository.
Invite people
Inviting takes a workspace owner or admin.
- Open the account menu, choose Workspace settings, then Members.
- Under Invite members, type an address in Invite by email.
- Under Projects access, tick the projects the person should work in, or click Select all.
- Click Add user.
The person joins the workspace as a Member, with the contributor role in the projects you ticked. If they don't have a FISYCO account yet, the invitation creates one. An email with sign-in instructions goes out the first time someone joins the workspace.
You can also invite from inside a project. Open its Members tab, enter an email and click Add member. The person joins the workspace and gets the contributor role in that project.
Invitations from the interface always add a workspace Member with the contributor role in the chosen projects. The interface has no control for changing a role afterwards.
Workspace roles
Owners and admins act as maintainers in every project, without being added to it. A workspace always keeps at least one owner, and an owner's access can't be revoked.
The Members table marks owners as Owner and everyone else as Member, and lists the projects each person works in. For an owner, it reads Full access.
Project roles
A project's Members tab lists the people added to that project. Workspace owners appear there as Owner and everyone else as Member. Owners and admins don't need to be listed to manage the project.
Default project access
Default project access decides what a member sees in projects they haven't been added to. It sits at the top of Workspace settings → Members, and the workspace owner changes it.
The change applies at once to every current member, not only new ones. A role given in a project always wins, so a contributor stays a contributor there. With View all projects on, someone removed from a project can still view it.
Remove someone
- Revoke access in Workspace settings → Members removes the person from the workspace and every project in it. Their personal Figma and repository connections in this workspace are revoked too. Service accounts stay, because they aren't tied to one person.
- Remove from project on a project's Members tab removes only their role in that project.
Both actions take a workspace owner or admin.
